Assisting the workshop department on:
Planning, Organising, Leading and Controlling Workshop Activities
The position ensures supervision of the workshop employees and fostering a positive organizational culture
Assigning daily duties/ deployment of Workshop employees
Ensuring artisan utilisation
Inspection of work done on vehicles and management of job cards
Making sure job cards are recorded and signed off
Conducting regular checks on vehicles to ensure they are in proper working condition
Inspecting and making recommendations after Truck repairs
Spares requisition from Stores/Procurement/ Buyer
Bridging between Workshops and Operations/Finance
Housekeeping and Waste Management (Scraped materials, Waste Management, Waste Receptacles, Workshop cleaning etc)
Updating Managing Director on regular basis
Liaising with operations for daily, weekly and monthly targets
Organizing fuel for pick ups
Push for drivers to fill in defects sheets and receiving defect reports
Service schedule report
Responding to break down reports and negotiating on outsourced jobs.
Liaising with suppliers
Making diagnosis decisions
Compliance with relevant legislative and regulatory provisions including the Road Motor Transportation Act, Environmental Management Act, Factory and Works Act etc.
Appointment as the companies Responsible Person for Machinery (both Electrical and Mechanical) in line with NSSA Regulations
Developing and aligning Workshop Policies, Standard Work Procedures and Working Instructions to International Organization of Standardization (ISO) Standards etc.
Conducting and facilitating Daily Meetings, Bi-weekly Safety Toolbox Talks and relevant awareness
Attending relevant Meetings including the SHEQ Committee Meeting and Management Reviews
On-The-Job Induction and Training of subordinates
Reporting Safety Health Environment and Quality Incidents, Accidents, Illnesses, Diseases and Near Misses
Any other duties expected of them.
Hands on / mechanically minded / team player
Certificate/Diploma in Diesel Motor Mechanics
Management Development Programs ( an added advantage)
At least 4 years’ experience in the transport industry.
Knowledge of Vehicle/ Fleet Safety, Machinery Safety (Electrical and Mechanical) Legislative provisions including the Road Transportation Motor Act, Factory and Works Act Chapter 14:04 and its accompanying regulations,
Knowledge of Accident Prevention strategies as provided by National Social Security Authority (NSSA) SI 68 of 1990 regulations
