We are looking to hire an experienced Factory Manager to supervise factory workers and ensure that factory targets are met. The Factory Manager's responsibilities include scheduling building and equipment maintenance as needed, regularly walking the factory floor to monitor the performance of factory staff, and ensuring that all production orders are completed in a timely manner. You should also be able to enforce compliance with health and safety regulations to prevent accidents and injuries.
To be successful as a Factory Manager, you should demonstrate outstanding problem-solving skills and resolve any issues that may derail production. Ultimately, a top-performing Factory Manager should have exceptional communication, management, and leadership skills to ensure that factory operations run smoothly.
Responsibilities include but not limited to
Preparation of schedules and trackers
Process RK and non-standard jobs
Order materials for jobs
Recommendations for customer /carpenter jobs
Compile daily production reports
Train staff in new processes and machining
Attend to staff requests and wage issues
Monitoring every order, from the time it is received through to its despatch, making sure that each department is fulfilling their duties so that the order is despatched correctly, on time and to the quality required.
Overseeing each department, making sure that any problems they have that may be causing inefficiencies are looked at and new procedures or systems implemented to improve the area so that each department runs efficiently.
Carrying out regular meetings with each department and reporting back to the directors on progress being made, managing and coordinating the work of various managers (buying, factory, despatch, stores and quality control) and discussing with management any issues for final approval.
Keeping accurate records, in association with the factory manager, of all work achieved in the factory.
Monitoring the granite department to improve efficiencies and increase production, producing cutting lists for all granite/caesarstone with optimised, cost effective cutting of material, and coordinate this department throughout cutting, mitring, grooving and joining of caesarstone tops, and then overseeing loading, delivery and correct installation of fragile mitred tops.
Recruiting, interviewing and training of various managers and employees.
Dealing with various clients and customers, maintaining good customer relationships.
Ensuring prompt resolution of any problems that may occur or be brought to your attention and to deal with any customers that may have problems with their orders that the sales person is not able to deal with.
Producing drawings/sketches - giving various options and accurate quotes for these using costing programs.
Monitoring fabrication processes, overseeing the manufacturing activities of the various departments. Problem solving and trouble-shooting to ensure a smooth running company.
Liaising with designers and visiting sites when required to measure for quotes, or survey for potential problems.
Advising factory manager and staff on product changes required, to resolve issues found on site.
Furnishing management with status reports as and when required, and regularly meeting with the Managing Director to discuss company plans, put into action new developments for various departments and conduct performance reviews.
Solving fitting technical issues, carrying out minor adjustments and assist fitters when required.
With the direction of the Managing Director, making sure that any new systems and/or business strategies, as agreed, are developed and implemented.
Assisting in new product development.
Carrying out other duties not specifically mentioned here, but required by the Board of Directors.
Proven experience in a managerial or supervisory role within a factory.
Certification in Production and Inventory Management as well as Quality Control.
Sound knowledge of industry-specific factory equipment.
Proficient in all Microsoft Office applications.

5 years relative experience in the same / similar position - 3 of which should be at Supervisor / Managerial level
Prior work experience in a furniture factory would be a distinct advantage
